The HBBT Council annual Charity Golf Tournament has collected a total of $56,145.48 over five years for Mito Canada charity; the tournament has been held at the Glendale golf course in Hamilton with all proceeds going to support research and treatment for Mitochondria, which is a debilitating disease that affects all ages from infants to seniors. The bodies cells can no longer produce energy which causes major health complications, including death.
Arcelor Mittal Dofasco
Arcelor Mittal Dofasco investing $1.8 Billion in decarbonization project to eliminate carbon and begin making cleaner green steel. The project is a partnership between AMD, Federal Government ($500,000,000), Provincial Government ($600,000,000) and ArceloMittal Dofasco ($700,00,00). The work will be executed by local labour through the HBBT Council and affiliates. The project is eliminating coke ovens, blast furnaces and changing process over to natural gas and hydrogen to eliminate large amounts of carbon in the steel production process, benefitting the environment and advancing new steel production process including another Electric Arc Furnace.
11,000 in donations
The HBBT Council and affiliates in 2022 donated over $11,000.00 to the St. Joseph Health Care Foundation for a new Prostate Biopsy MRI equipment, the only other medical equipment is located in Toronto causing major delays in diagnoses and treatment of prostate cancer. The new equipment in Hamilton will shorten wait lists and help with early detection in the diagnoses and treatment of prostate cancer.
